How to Unplug From Your Business

How to Unplug From Your Business

BlogPost10112013Every entrepreneur needs regularly scheduled time off to rest and recharge. It’s non-negotiable. The problem is, I meet with so many entrepreneurs who feel they simply cannot take time away from their work without everything falling apart. I know exactly what they mean because I’ve been there too.

You may know that I take time off from my business regularly. Sometimes I don’t check in with the office for extended periods of time. And you know what? Everything runs along without a hiccup! You can do this too, even if you don’t see that right now. This skill is one we teach the students of The Client Attraction Business School: how to clone themselves in their business so it can run without them.

The easiest way to take extended vacations is to take them at the same time each year. (Click here to tweet this.)

Today, I will share with you a few best practices on how to take time off from your business (and actually be unplugged). Watch this video to discover three of the strategies we share with our Leverage Track students about how to set up their business so it can run without them.

Your Client Attraction Assignment

Even if you have no intention of ever taking a month off from your own business, put these strategies into practice anyway. By doing so, you will gain the ultimate leverage. And then, when you do these 3 things over time and with lots of practice, you can take as much as one month (or more) completely unplugged from your business. Ease into this and be kind to yourself as you adjust to the crazy idea of an entrepreneur actually taking an unplugged vacation! It won’t happen overnight and that’s OK…but you CAN do this!

Fabienne – Wholeheartedly agree with you on taking time off. It seems counter intuitive, but I have realized that I accomplish more after I take time off and rejuvenate myself. Running a business is stressful job. Regular time off allows you to relieve that stress and come back with full of energy to tackle difficult problems.

    • So true Harry, I make sure to schedule them in. They’re SUPER important to my business!

    I love this!

I have just started taking breaks from my business.

I am leaving my full-time job at the end of next week and will be supporting myself entirely on my own. YAY!

Now that I’m in charge of my own schedule, I am planning in lots of breaks and vacation. At the moment, I do not have a team that I can delegate to (tried bringing on one VA that didn’t work out), but took notes for the future, so that when I DO have a team, I’ll know what I need to do in order to take a relaxing vacation, knowing that everything is working out exactly the way that it needs to.

In the meantime, I will be taking vacations again for the first time in 3 years, but still be plugged in. Not a terrible start. :]

    • Love hearing this Shannon! I know you will do well as you step out on your own – big hugs to you!!
